1. About BuilderSwap

BuilderSwap (“we”, “us”) operates builderswap.co.uk, a UK marketplace where users can sell, give away or swap surplus building materials, tools and related items. We provide the platform only — transactions are between users.

2. Your account

You must be 18 or over to post listings or messages. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for all activity on your account.

3. Acceptable use — prohibited items

You must not list, offer, sell, give away or swap:

• Stolen goods, or items you do not have the right to sell or give away.
• Counterfeit, replica or unlawfully copied products.
• Controlled or age-restricted goods including weapons, offensive weapons, fireworks, ammunition, illegal drugs, prescription medicines, tobacco or alcohol.
• Asbestos-containing materials, unlabelled chemicals, or hazardous waste that must be disposed of via a licensed carrier.
• Gas cylinders, unsafe electrical goods, recalled products or items that do not meet UK safety standards.
• Any item whose sale, supply or possession is unlawful under UK law, or that infringes another person’s rights.

You must not use BuilderSwap for fraud, harassment, spam, phishing, or to arrange anything illegal. We may remove listings and suspend accounts that breach these rules, with or without notice, and we may report serious or suspected criminal activity to the relevant authorities.

4. Listings

You are responsible for the accuracy of your listings, including description, condition, photos and collection details. Only list items you actually own and can hand over.

5. Transactions between users

BuilderSwap is not a party to any sale, gift or swap arranged through the platform. We do not inspect items, handle payment, or arrange collection. Meet safely, check items before you accept them, and use your own judgment.

6. Contact details & messaging

Conversations happen inside BuilderSwap. Your phone number and email are only shared with another user when you explicitly approve a request.

7. Content licence

You keep ownership of the photos and text you upload. By posting a listing you grant us a non-exclusive licence to host, display and share that content on BuilderSwap for the purpose of running the marketplace.

8. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, BuilderSwap is provided “as is”. We are not liable for the condition, safety or legality of items exchanged between users, or for any loss arising from meetings, transport or use of items. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.

9. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the site.
